Our purpose is to promote good writing, primarily poetry, by Oklahomans, primarily, and to create a place for writers whose voices deserve to be heard but whose work is ignored by conglomerate publishers. We take pride in Oklahoma writers and Oklahoma literature!
VBP was founded in 2002 by Dorothy Alexander and Devey Napier.
To date, VBP has published the first books of five poets who later became Oklahoma poet laureates, seven Oklahoma Book Award recipients, and fifteen Oklahoma Book Award finalists.
